4 Resume Tips to Stand Out

Are you working on your resume? Recruiters are looking through many resumes, and you want yours to stand out. Here are some tips to help you.

Mention achievements over responsibilities

Showing what you achieved in the role will explain your responsibilities. The recruiter will see how you excelled in this role, and it will help you stand out. Of course, this may not be possible for every position, and in that case, it's alright to use the responsibilities.

Relevant Work Experience

Suppose you are applying for a position, including roles that are relevant or have similar skills that relate to the role. The recruiter will be able to see what experience you have gained. If you are a student with little to no experience, you can use internship, volunteer, or campus organization experience as your relevant work experience.

Tailor Resume to Role

This is similar to including relevant work experience, but this focuses on the resume. Recruiters don't spend a lot of time looking over your resume, so you want to use keywords that will get the attention of the recruiters. If you have a summary or career objective, change it to relate to the exact role you're applying to. In the skills section, choose skills essential to the role, and eliminate those that don't.

Proofread Your Resume

This may seem like a given, but it happens often. Many spend time creating a relevant resume, but they'll have misspelled words here and there. When recruiters see misspelled words or errors, many will throw them out. Give your resume a fair shot, review your document and Let someone else look over your resume.
